“There was so much more space and people interacted with the exhibitors and if they wanted to go out and come back they could,” said spokesperson Sarah Stenning. “We were really happy.”
Almost 1500 people came through the doors, which was a less than last year’s inaugural event.
But while the event is a fundraiser for Hallidays Point Public School’s P and C, Sarah said it isn’t about the money.
“We think it’s heaps of fun and the kids love it! That’s what made us so happy – seeing everyone’s happy faces.”
She added that the venue allowed people to go back and look at the displays more than once and often find something new to see each time.
People also got to work being creative in the free build area and took the opportunity to add to the collective build.
“It was really interactive to have (the free build area) and everyone was itching to touch and play – I saw a few adults having a build too!” said Sarah.
This year attracted 21 exhibitors from the Rainbow Bricks group, nearly double the number of last year.
“Rainbow Bricks LUG is a registered LEGO User Group [LUG] with The LEGO Group whose exhibitors are all volunteers giving up their time to create their displays and put on these event,” said Sarah.
“The Brickfest people love coming to the area.”
Kevin Evans from Rainbow Bricks said the members were delighted by the turnout to the second Hallidays Point Brickfest.
“As we are all volunteers it great to see everyone's hard work appreciated by all people who attended,” he said.
“It's also great for the Hallidays Point Public School P and C to see their hard work paying off as well.
“The larger venue meant we could have more exhibitors (double last year's numbers) and larger displays for the public to enjoy. It also meant the public had a better viewing experience.
“We are looking forward to returning next year with all new creation.”
