Wil Hellstedt will showcase his dancing and singing abilities during Saturday’s Spotlight on Taree Arts Council variety concert.

Known by audiences for his role of Michael Banks in the 2015 production of Mary Poppins (“It’s something I’ll never forget”), he also appeared in last year’s musical production of Crystal Dreaming by Ariana Shneider.
For Spotlight on Taree Arts Council he will be performing a solo dance number as well as joining some of his Mary Poppins co-stars for a song.
Wil, aged 10, has been dancing since he was three and studies ballet, jazz and contemporary dance. “I love it so much,” he said.
Last year Wil successfully auditioned for the Australian Ballet School’s Interstate and International program, also known as ITP. He was extremely happy to be accepted.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I have also been chosen to dance in America with my dance school, the Andrea Rowsell Academy of Dance (ARAD).
“My family is so supportive and with their support I have have become more confident.”
In 2016 Wil won the 2017 classical scholarship for ARAD. “I really hope I can succeed with dancing and one day become a professional dancer,” he said.
Spotlight on Taree Arts Council has been an opportunity for the organisation to entertain its local community in a year where there will be no major musical production being produced.
Other performers include George Hoad, Pam Phillips, Bob Berrigan, Paul Gallagher, Bridget Mason-Tisdell, Jodi Cooper, Lyn Moore, Pat Wolfenden, Dawn Walton, Kylie Cleaver, Dale Kidd De Pyper, Paul Eade, Mary Camphuis, Alex Wilson, Liz Hall, Cassidy Donovan, Georgina Saad, Ian McLeod, Margaret Thomas, Patrick Guest, Helen Tompson, Ton Grooteman, Frosa Bell, Deirdre Sutherland, John Holme, Clara Wilson, Chelsea Wilson and Courtney Wilson.
Spotlight on Taree Arts Council is on Saturday February 25 at 7.30pm at St Mary's Hall in Taree. Light refreshments will be provided.
Tickets are $20 or $15 concession and are available through Bass'n'Blues, Taree.
