Following interest shown by the residents of the Mid North Coast and the media, Mrs Williams arranged for Ms Dail McGilchrist, executive director of Learning, High Performance and Accountability with the NSW Department of Education (DoE) to meet with members of Board of the Conservatorium Mid-North Coast (CMNC), staff and interested members of the public on Thursday February 9 at CMNC’s Port Macquarie Campus to discuss the non-payment of a bill for over $160,000 owed to CMNC by DoE.
At the meeting, both Mrs Williams and Ms McGilchrist reiterated their ongoing and strong commitment to the continuance of such a thriving conservatorium on the Mid North Coast and their wish to see a speedy and successful resolution to this issue. After what was at times a spirited and candid meeting, Dail McGilchrist on behalf of the Department of Education agreed to pay the money by February 28.
The CMNC Board thanked Mrs Williams for her support and encouragement and Dail McGilchrist (from the Department of Education) for her negotiation and commitment to honour the agreement. Until such time the money is received, CMNC assures students it will continue to make every effort to minimise the effects of the delayed payment for its clients, students and residents of Taree, Forster, Gloucester, Port Macquarie and Kempsey.
