Club president Anthony Barber said five of the six Lower North Coast teams will be there, with Myall Lakes expected to be absent.
“We might get one more club from outside the area,’’ he added.
The Clams have appointed a new captain-coach, second rower Matt Lansdowne, who joined the club last season.
Mr Barber said the attendances at training sessions have been encouraging and he believes the club will have an improved campaign. The Clams haven’t won a game since 2012 but Mr Barber is confident that’ll change this season.
He pointed out that the club met all commitments last year despite problems with player numbers at the start of the season.
“There’s a good feeling in the club at the moment,’’ he said.
The club was one of the powerhouses when the Lower North Coast competition was formed in 2008. Old Bar played in consecutive grand finals from 08 to 2012, winning two premierships. However, the Clams feel on hard times after making the 2012 grand final and withdrew from the 2013 competition before returning in 2014.
The Clams train on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Richard Crook Field. Lower North Coast Rugby will kick off on Saturday April 1.
