Fire located near Moorland
Our local Lansdowne Fire Brigade was called out to check out a reported smoke sighting at Moorland.
They attended with the Cat 1 and Cat 9 along with Moorland Brigade’s 2 as well.
The Cat 9 located the fire near Saunders Trail.
It was an amazing effort by those fire fighters to have to work in all that gear in extreme 40 degree heat, in steep terrain and dragging lengths of 25mm hoses.
It must have been horrendous but they fought hard and long and hung in there until they successfully stopped the fire from spreading any further.
They were then able to hand over to the Forestry before they all came home safe but very exhausted.
How brave are our volunteer fire fighters. It must take a very special type of person to put themselves in these situations that keep us all safe. How hard it must be on their families waiting at home.
Please remember to show your gratitude to these marvelous firefighters on the National Red Balloon Day on February 28.
This event has been created to honor and thank our brave and courageous firefighters. Fly lots of red balloons to show our appreciation.
The special red balloons are available from http://www.nationalredballoonday.org/merchandise.html and all profits from sales come back to the fire service of the state or territory they are bought. Or you can just fly ordinary red balloons.

Both groups are made up of various Wingsong/Kantabile members. Acchord is a ukelele group with four part harmonies, SALT usually does Beatles covers.
It will be a great afternoon of listening to fine music, particularly from local choirs Kantabile and Wingsong, while sipping tea and eating sandwiches and scones etc.
