Work will commence later this month and is expected to continue over approximately eight weeks.
Under the microscope during February and March is a 1km stretch of road which includes Combined Street and Dennes Street, between Wynter and Farquhar Streets.
Sections of both streets will undergo reconstruction and a full-width seal will be applied to the entire length.
Sections of kerb and gutter were replaced last year in preparation for the upcoming road reconstruction, and road crews will also undertake work to improve drainage at the same time.
Line-marking and the installation of new street signage will complete the project towards the end of March, weather-permitting.
Daniel Park, manager operations (North) believes the work will be well-received by local residents and business-owners.
“Improving our local streets, especially those that are key thoroughfares, is an on-going focus. While there will be disruptions to traffic over a period of about two months, the end result will be a smoother, safer driving surface in a busy part of Wingham’s CBD”.
Council road crews are scheduled to commence work around the first week of February (weather permitting), with work being undertaken between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Fridays.
While the road will remain open to traffic for the duration of the works, reduced speed limits will be in place, as well as lane closures and short detours from time to time.
Local residents and those accessing businesses are asked to observe all roadworks signage and directions from road crews, and travel through the area with caution.
Where vehicular access to and from properties may be interrupted, Council staff will liaise directly with those affected to minimise disruption.
