TWELVE teams will contest the North Coast Dragon Boat Regatta to be hosted by the Manning River Dragons this weekend.

Teams from Newcastle to Coffs Harbour will be involved.
The regatta will start with a 2km marathon on Saturday from 1pm near the Taree Aquatic Club.
Six crews will contest an event that is gaining in popularity in dragon boat racing.
Crews will negotiate four laps of a 500km course.
There will be three classes run in the regatta-proper on Sunday, sports men, sports women and sports mixed. Manning will be involved in all three. All races will be over the standard distance of 200 metres.
Racing will start at 8am on Sunday with the final event scheduled for 1pm.
The Manning club has 57 members, ranging in age from 12 to 83. The club trains three times a week, on Monday and Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning, with the occasional session on a Sunday.
“We’ll certainly welcome more members,’’ a club spokeswoamn said.
