At about 3.30pm, Taree Fire and Rescue were notified and found the property alight with black smoke bellowing out of a window and chimney.
Firefighters forced entry to the house and successfully contained to fire after the Taree Hazmat tanker and Wingham pumper had arrived.
The crew discovered no one was home after an investigation.
The fire is believed to be electrical related.
Taree Fire and Rescue Station Officer Peter Willard is warning people not to leave appliances running during hot summer conditions while no one is home and to ensure all appliances are plugged in according to their wattage.
