CAPE Head Surf Club member Brock Van Kampen scored an impressive win in the Head2Head ocean swim held at Black Head.

Van Kampen completed the 1.5km event in 24.48 to win from Lucas Soars who clocked 25.11. Max Mulligan was third in 25.14.
Soars beat Van Kampen in the 700m race, where his time was 12.24. Van Kampen clocked 12.35.
Gabrielle Grieves was the first woman home in the 1.5km race, beating Claire Van Kampen. Grieves’ time was 28.10. She was seventh overall. Tara Wilkes was second in the women’s division.
She also won the 700m race in 13.58, where she was fifth across the line.
Black Head Surf Club spokesman Scott Crawford described the conditions as ‘lumpy’.
“But it wasn’t anything they couldn’t handle,’’ he said.
A field of 55 set off in the 1.5km swim with 53 in the 700m race held earlier in the morning.
“The numbers were up slightly on last year and there were no major incidents,’’ Mr Crawford said.
