BLACK Head Surf Club officials are hoping for a field of around 120 for Sunday’s Head2Head ocean swim program.

“It depends on the conditions,’’ spokesman Scott Crawford said.

“A lot of people don’t make up their mind until the morning. But if we can get 120 plus we’ll be happy.’’

Last year 103 swimmers were involved. As usual there will be two swims, one 700 metres the other 1.5km while there’ll also be ski paddle race.

The 700m event will be underway from 9.15 with the 1.5km race at 10.30. Ski paddlers will hit the water from 9am.

The minimum age for swimmers is 12 and race day registrations are open from 7am.

Last year Lochie Hinds from Sydney won the 700m and 1.5km races with Carolyn Turnham from Port Macquarie the first woman home in both.

“They spoke very favourably about the event and said they’d be back, but at this stage I don’t know if they’ve entered,’’ Mr Crawford said.
