In retirement, Debbie continues to research and write about the marvellously eclectic Powerhouse collection, as well as assisting regional museums, all on a voluntary basis.
Debbie’s visit to the Cundletown Museum was to engage and advise members on how best to present valuable items being housed in the new pavilion.
The display will depict farming and milk production on farms and in local factories, as well as emphasising the impact domestic practices also contributed to dairying culture.
Many and varied items have already been collected, but if anyone has any farming equipment they think might be suitable, such as a pig or calf trough no longer needed, as well as a wash up vat, please contact Margaret on 6553 9574.
Much discussion ensued on the day, with many ideas being suggested, resulting in a ‘visitor friendly’ plan, aiming to enhance the appearance and experience for visitors of each item on display.
At the conclusion of her visit, Debbie stated, “It was a joy to visit Cundletown Museum after corresponding with Margaret over several months.
“I was very impressed by the creative displays in the main building, the range of local stories the museum tells, and the great potential of the objects that will be displayed in the pavilion.”
The museum members look forward to Debbie’s return visit in the future when the exhibition is completed.
