Manning-Great Lakes Local Area Command chief inspector Tony Power said there was only a small number of incidents and arrests in relation to alcohol and anti-social behaviour.
“Overall the behaviour was good and a lot better than last year,” chief inspector Power said.
Manning-Great Lakes Local Area Command issued a warning to New Years Eve revellers on its Facebook page on December 31.
“Let's remember 2016 for all the right reasons – the simple message is to enjoy your celebrations and self-control. If drinking have a Plan "B" and certainly don't drive as you will be caught,” a spokesperson wrote.
“We will be out in force with a zero tolerance right across Manning-Great Lakes, targeting alcohol-related violence and anti-social behaviour as New Year's Eve is about families celebrating the New Year and not under age children running around the streets intoxicated, damaging property and causing fights.”
