Wil Hellstedt,10, and Jasinta Birchall,10, have been accepted into The Australian Ballet School International/Interstate Training Programme (ITP).
According to the School’s website, “the ITP serves as the most advantageous preparation for possible study in The Australian Ballet School’s Full-Time Programme”.
The Andrea Rowsell Academy of Dance students will be working with a class of ‘high aptitude peers’ and ‘with teachers of high renown’.
Wil has danced since he was three years old, he said dancing, “is a way to express my feelings through movement”.
When Wil found out he was accepted he felt “really happy and a little emotional” because he had worked so hard.
His aspirations in dance are to one day join a company that tours the world.
Director of Andrea Rowsell Academy of Dance Andrea Rowsell said, “Wil has developed a lot this year”.
“He has more confidence and you can tell he loves dancing with such passion,” Andrea said.
“He’s a talented boy who is willing to work hard.”
On being accepted into the ITP programme Jasinta Birchall said, “I’ve never achieved something so big”.
With dancing, Jasinta likes, “to just have fun and to do your best”.
Like Wil, she would one day like to tour the world with her dancing.
Andrea said Jasinta is, “a natural, beautiful dancer”.
“It’s so easy to watch her dance – she has such a magnificent jump,” Andrea said.
“I was so happy that they could see all her lovely qualities as a dancer.
“This is extremely exciting for them and we as a school can be very proud to be a part of their journey.”
Wil and Jascinta will travel to Sydney to take part in the programme.
