The man, believed to be from Adelaide, was intoxicated when he fell down some stairs at a local caravan park in the early hours of Sunday morning and hit his head on concrete, sustaining a serious head injury.
Intensive care paramedics were on the scene within minutes of receiving the 000 call and he was taken to the South Coast District Hospital, before the Medstar helicopter was called to fly him to FMC.
Later on Sunday morning, he remained in a serious but stable condition.
For the first time in Schoolies Festival history, no arrests were made on day two of festivities at Victor Harbor.
There was an increase in expiations for dry zone breaches, with 80 handed out compared to 46 on Friday. Some fines issued were for behavioural offences.
There were 185 presentations made to the St John’s tent on day two; 27 incidents required ambulance attendance, and 20 transfers to hospital were made.
“Generally speaking, numbers were down on presentations and transports to hospital, compared to the Saturday night last yea,” SA Ambulance operations manager David Dewar said.
There were no observations of MDMA or similar drug use in the presentations to St John’s and SA Ambulance.
“We believe people are making wiser decisions when it comes to drugs,” Mr Dewar said.
