The event will take place on Sunday, November 27 from 10am to 2pm.
Sections of the school will be divided into the different decades, with photos and school magazine, The Torch, available to reminisce over.
Glenda Hutchinson, co-ordinator of Taree High School Alumni Facebook page, said there has been huge interest in the event with people expected to come from as far as Perth.
“We’ve had particular interest from the class of 69’ – we’re expecting at least 50 people from that year,” Glenda said.
Glenda said the day creates an easy platform for people to have a reunion.
“School reunions can be difficult to organise and can put some people out of pocket,” she said. “All people have to do this weekend is show up. It’s a really nice way to come back to the school.”
The day will also be used to unveil new plans for the school’s exterior. Outside the office there will be renovations which including a new elevator and steps. There will also be a decorative school crest in the pavement.
Plans for the renovations will be on display in the library on the day of the Whole School Reunion.
“The school belongs to the community and they are entitled to know what we doing,” she said.
Students will be running a raffle and barbecue and those who miss lining up for the canteen will be delighted to know it will also be open.
Glenda said parents with children coming into year seven who would like to look at the school are welcome to do so, as is anyone from the community.
Interest in the school’s history has been increased by the Taree High School Alumni Facebook page, where thousands of photos have been unearthed and uploaded for all to see. Glenda is always on the lookout for photos to share. If you would like to drop off photos you can contact her at Taree High School on 6552 1166.
