Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead and minister for Early Childhood Education Leslie Williams visited Nabiac and District Preschool and Annabelle’s Day Care Centre (Pacific Palms) to announce the package. Mr Bromhead said, the $115 million funding for the Start Strong program is committed to providing universal access to quality early childhood education.
“The funding boost will deliver the largest single fee reduction in NSW history, making preschool more affordable so that more children will be able to participate in 600 hours a year of early childhood education in the year before they start school,” Mr Bromhead said. Minister for Early Childhood Education Leslie Williams said the funding will reduce preschool fees for four and five year olds and remove nearly all fees for children from Aboriginal and low-income families.
Mr Bromhead also congratulated Ruby Hopkins of Wingham and District Preschool on receiving a $10,000 government study grant.
