Like many youngsters in an Olympic year Tarli didn’t hesitate to confess her dream, and long-term goal was to represent Australia at a future games event.
But, she also mentioned her immediate goal was to represent NSW at the National Athletics Carnival.
And, with the blink of an eyelid, and impressive times, Tarli qualified in three events, the 100m, 200m and the NSW relay team after competing in the NSW PSSA State Athletics Carnival last week.
In the lead-up to this month’s State carnival the Hallidays Point Public School student broke a number of zone and regional athletics records.
The Nationals will be held in Sydney later this month from November 25-29.
Earlier this year while attending her third NSW Little Athletics championships the young sprinter snatched three bronze medals in the 70, 100 and 200 metres and took silver in the long jump.
The event attracts an elite line-up of youngsters from throughout NSW.
At the NSW Country Championships in Campbelltown Tarli took advantage of the prevailing headwind and ran ahead of the pack to break a 41-year record in the 200m.
She finished with a time of 29.30 seconds.
Surprisingly, this was not her PB.
In the past she has run the distance in 29.15 seconds.
