Restockers were once again dominant at the last regular Fat sale and market day, where the Kempsey Stock & Land team presented a good quality line up of 775 head, over 70 per cent of which were restocker weaners and vealers.

Demand for light-weight British and Euro cross weaners was once again very strong, with the best lighter Angus cross steer calves topping at 526c/kg – another record. Most classes throughout the day were firm to dearer, while light and heavy weight cows were slightly easier.
Light-weight heifer weaners sold to 490c/kg and for calves under 200kg average price was 412.8c/kg. Medium weight weaner steers (200-280kg) were slightly eaerier making 440.2c/kg, while veal to processors topped at 374c/kg. Heavy veal (280-330kg) topped at 410.2c/kg. Bobby calves also sold well topping at 512.2c/kg.
In the grown cattle section heavy trade heifers over 330kg made to 400c/kg while heavy steers over 400kg sold to 340.2c/kg. Lighter grown steers up to 400kg made up to 372.2c/kg while the best of a small penning of bullocks sold to 324.2/kg. Light cows up to 400kg sold to 290c/kg while medium weight cows sold to 280.2c/kg
