A highly commended was also awarded to classified ‘guru’ Tess Chown in the category of Best Telephone Sales Person of the Year.
The awards were a highlight of the sales conference, held in Canberra and celebrated 139 mastheads from agricultural, daily, non daily and group sales teams from across Australia.
There were many award categories ranging from Best Customer Solutions, Best Creatives to Best Sales people and teams of the year.
The criteria to qualify for an annual award was quite intensive and values that included caring for our community, customer service, working for our customers and audience were all taken into account.
Classified channel manager Jo Mansell said the win, and Tess’s highly commended, were “not only well deserved but a fantastic result”.
"I couldn't be more proud of Tess and the Taree classified team,” she said.
“They are always looking for fresh new ideas to help our customers businesses grow and assist advertisers in selling their products.

“They go out of their way to help and love being a part of the local community."
Tess Chown has been a member of the Times classifieds team for 16 years.
It is the first time she has been nominated and was thrilled to be recognised.
“Jo’s a good mentor and motivator and I couldn’t have done it without her support,” she said.
Part of her nomination focused on a revamp of the Dining Guide, which appears in the Manning Great Lakes Extra, Manning River Times (Friday) and the Wingham Chronicle, which had resulted in a significant boost in sales revenue.
