Located on Comboyne Road, south of Mortons Road at Killabakh, the timber bridge will be removed and a new concrete bridge constructed in its place.
Work will commence this week with the installation of a single lane by-road, allowing the road to remain open under traffic control at all times through to project completion.
The by-road will be operational from Monday October 24.
“Almost one third of bridges across the MidCoast region are timber and often in need of maintenance”, explains Dan Park, Manager Operations North.
“One of our priorities is to minimise maintenance costs by replacing them with newer, concrete structures”.
The project is expected to run through until the end of January 2017 depending on favourable weather conditions.
While access in both directions will be maintained using the single lane by-road, motorists can expect short delays of up to 10 minutes at times, and are asked to observe all signage, reduced speed limits and directions from bridge crews.
