MidCoast Council put in an expression of interest (EOI) to host the event and it has just been officially announced it was successful.
LGNSW representatives said there were a record number of expressions of interest to host the conference, but MidCoast Council was selected due to the location, history in delivering quality events, evidence of tourism in the area and the high quality initiatives outlined in the program.
MidCoast Council’s team leader for Tourism, Events and Communications (Taree office), Donna Hudson, is thrilled with the announcement.
“The conference will be a huge boost for both tourism in our region and the local economy as we expect to welcome 180 delegates from across NSW.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase what the Manning Valley has to offer and we’re excited to start working with LGNSW’s events manager to get the program underway,” she said.
“Our expression of interest highlighted a range of suggested activities including a feast with entertainment on the Manning River foreshore, workshops and keynote speaker presentations at our Manning Entertainment Centre, a range of tours, exploring our Aboriginal heritage, meeting our local producers and guided tours of our award-winning Cattai Wetlands,” Donna added.

Coupled with the success of the recent Rotary Conference in Taree with over 400 delegates, the 2017 Tourism Conference will further cement the Manning Valley as a key tourism destination in NSW.
The theme and dates for the conference are expected to be released shortly and MidCoast Council will work closely with local businesses and the community to ensure the event is a success.
