Police Chaplain Pastor Chris Thornhill commenced proceedings with the opening prayer, with retired Inspector Laurie Easter following with a scripture reading.
Acting Superintendent Christine George then offered a personal viewpoint of the commemorations in her commissioner’s address.
A memorial candle lighting ceremony was then held.
National Police Rembrance Day is held on September 29 each year throughout Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
It is a day for police to pause and honour officers whose lives have been cut short while performing their duty as a police officer, as well as remembering officers who have lost their lives through illness or other circumstances.
National Police Remembrance Day was first held on September 29 1989, with the tradition continuing 27 years later.
