OVER the last three years Brad Jones Racing has been one of the best performed teams in the Supercars championship, so it was not a hard decision for Tim Slade to make the switch to the Albury outfit this season.

But what Slade did not anticipate was how good a fit the team would be for him. This season will already be one he remembers given it includes the first win of his Supercars career, while he goes into the Bathurst 1000 sitting 10th in the drivers’ championship.
“I guess it’s been a fairly up and down last few years. I was happy with where I was at SBR [Stone Brothers Racing] in 2010, 11 and 12. We had a really strong 2012, but then all of that changed to Erebus and I still had a year left on my contract there, so I didn’t have any say on that matter,” Slade explained.
“We went in with cars where they shouldn’t have been development wise. Then I decided to move teams and that didn’t really pan out the way anyone wanted.
“It feels like this year things are getting back to the way that they were in 2012, sort of comfortable in my surrounds and I have people that believe in me.
“I don’t know, but the place I am at at the moment allows me to get the most out of myself. I am loving it and it couldn’t get any better from a team point of view.
“It’s just been really enjoyable again – all my racing this year – I definitely feel like I have found a home again and the people there – it really does feel like family. That is a really nice feeling to have and obviously when you are getting the results there, it makes it even better.”
