The Wingham Akoostik Festival has grown in popularity to become of the Manning Valley’s largest events, drawing audiences of over 3000, and hundreds of performers from across the country.
Held over three days, 14–16 October 2016, this year’s festival is set to be bigger than ever, with well-known Aussie artists that include Ross Wilson, Shannon Noll, Ash Grunwald, Backsliders and Bill Chambers.
But what makes this year’s event all the more exciting is a new partnership between festival organisers and Manning Youth Action Team (MYAT), which introduces the Amplify Youth Stage on opening night.
Supporting established Australian performers including The VANNS, Grizzlee Train, Josh Needs and Bill Roberts, are local acts selected from MYAT’s 2016 ‘Live‘n’Loud performances, who will form part of an incredible four hours of live entertainment.
“This is an amazing opportunity for young local musicians to play alongside professional artists, and build confidence in performing to a much larger audience”, explains Russell Ingram, youth engagement officer.
“It’s a great experience for those who are looking to develop their musical career, as well as giving young people working behind-the-scenes a fantastic opportunity to learn from professional event organisers”, he adds.
Kicking off at 5pm on Friday 14 October at Wingham Showground, the Amplify Youth Stage will be hosted by Jake Stone, frontman for Bluejuice, and is an alcohol and drug free event.
Tickets are available online now, and can be purchased as part of a two- or three-day pass for access to Saturday and Sunday performances. Visit www.akoostik.com.au for more information and to book.
Five local youth acts will perform at the Wingham Akoostik Music Festival over the three-day event.
“Three Live’n’Loud acts are currently being selected to play at Amplify. Live’n’Loud regulars, SOAR, have already secured a place in the line-up in their own right, and the highly talented Sweet Nothin’ are performing in Saturday’s program”, Russell said.
Check the Manning Youth Facebook page for the full line-up and more information about Amplify Youth Stage.
