Their journey started back in May when the team was selected. After many training sessions on the oval at lunch time it was time for the first game against Stroud Public school and Moorland won 6-0. Moorland then played Willow Tree Public School at Maitland and thanks to some expert goal keeping and quality team work, Moorland had a spectacular 9-0 runaway. This put the side within one game of a trip to Sydney. After some viscous weather that delayed training and postponed the match, it was finally game day against Gravesend Public school at Walcha. After arriving at the John Oxley Field the wind struck. Having left a sunny Moorland the cold was a shock to both players and parents.
It was a hard and physical game. But through a great team effort the ball was kept in the opposition’s half. A penalty was awarded to Moorland. The keeper dived right and the ball went left – goal. The second half was much the same as the first, lots of shots but unfortunately none went in. The final whistle went, Moorland won 1-0. The players have been supported by Eggins Comfort Coaches, Moorland Soccer Club and Football Mid North Coast
