The assembly celebrates the academic achievements of the highest achieving students in Years 3–12 from across the learning community which consists of six feeder primary schools – Bungwahl, Nabiac, Hallidays Point, Forster, Tuncurry and Pacific Palms, and the three campuses of Great Lakes College, Tuncurry Campus (Years 7–10), Forster Campus (Years 7–10) and Senior Campus (Years 11-12).
More than 200 students were awarded at this prestigious event, each receiving a certificate of recognition in front of an audience that included their parents, grandparents, principals, P&C presidents, Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) president, MidCoast Council representative and public schools director.
The event also showcased the musical talents of the Great Lakes Learning Community Band, consisting of students from Years 3-12 who performed pieces rehearsed by their primary and secondary school teachers, and conducted on the day by their band director.
This event not only demonstrates the outstanding reputation that the Great Lakes Learning Community has on the North Coast and within the NSW Department of Education, but also recognises the value of education which shapes the future of our young citizens and our community.
