There will also be live music, a car show, art exhibition featuring some well-known local artists, market stalls and food and drink stalls. Mount George School principal Peter Falla, school staff and P and C members have planned a full day with markets commencing at 8.30am. 

The official centenary ceremony commences at 10am, followed later by a billy cart derby at 12.30pm. Invited guests will address the assembly and a presentation will be made by the school pupils. 

An historical walk of pavers will be unveiled by Dr David Gillespie, Federal Member for Lyne, and Mr David Willard, director of Public Schools, NSW. Engraved pavers purchased by families and individuals to mark their memories of Mount George School are being laid alongside the footpath into the school forming this historical walk of pavers. 

Displays of photographs, other memorabilia and a chance for ex-students to peek into their old school room are sure to provoke lots of happy memories for those attending. 

Many former students, teachers and residents will join with the Mount George community in the centenary celebrations. Organisers say it is a wonderful opportunity to share memories of school days and to rekindle old friendships. 

Ex-students Ann (Fenning) Hammond and Wendy Hogan have been busily researching the school’s history from the early days at Woodside through to present times. Ann and Wendy will have a book available for purchase on the day. 

In the evening, for those who would like to continue reminiscing, the Wingham RSL Club has offered their function room for a reunion dinner. 

Cost for the main meal is $18 per person with dessert at an additional $7.50 per person.
