Fire fighter training
The Lansdowne Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade hosted a good training day on the weekend involving a couple of members from Coopernook brigade with their Cat 1, the Lansdowne 9 and Lansdowne 1.
They had a structure fire scenario with CABA operator collapse and AED device operation, also drawing water from a static water supply from the Cat 9 to supply water to the fire. All the crew had a great time all done at walking pace and really seeing what each job and role entails.
There were a few local children watching the crew who commented that they were hot so the crew showered them down with the fire hose, much to the children’s delight.
A reminder that if you are intending to have a burn off, 24 hours’ notice must be given both to neighbouring properties and also the NSW Rural Fire control office before you burn. This is all year round.
And if you are unsure about the burn off you would like to do, please ask for some advice from the fire control centre or ask to speak to your local fire brigade for some advice. We a more than happy to assist you in making the right choices before lighting.
Coopernook brigade
The Coopernook Volunteer Fire Brigade is on a fund raising mission to raise much needed funds to have modification works done to their fire station.
If anyone can help them out even with a few dollars it would be very much appreciated. Just remember that one day you may need their services so it would be an advantage to everyone in the community to help out.
Our local brigades do such a great demanding and dangerous tasks to keep us safe when those fires start up so we should be very thankful that we have them and should help them in any way that we can.
