Shadow Minister for Primary Industries, Lands, and Western NSW, Labor’s Mick Veitch, said the placement of the new cameras was done in “secret”, with the only notification posted on the Centre for Road Safety website.
“It’s appalling that the Government thinks that an upload to an obscure page on a Government website can count as a public announcement,” Mr Veitch said.
“If the Government wanted to slow motorists along Bucketts Way then it wouldn’t announce the new mobile speed camera locations in secret.”
The new camera locations came into effect from Monday August 1, with cameras now scattered along the Bucketts Way at Krambach, Craven, Forbesdale, Gloucester, Stratford, Stroud, Wards River and Weismantels.
Mr Veitch said the Government was increasingly relying on fines from motorists to fund road safety.
“Road safety should be about slowing people down, not raising revenue,” he said.
