Daryl Irvine started at Chatham on Monday August 8, following nearly six years of work as a deputy principal and an executive principal at Menindee Central School in the State’s far west.
Mr Irvine’s varied working background started at schools in western Sydney, before he took up a stint on Norfolk Island, which he credits for giving him a “taste for small community-minded schools”.
Mr Irvine then transferred to a larger school at Lisarow on the central coast before his move to Menindee.
Although he enjoyed his time at Mendinee, Mr Irvine said an opportunity to come to Taree “was too good to pass up”.
Mr Irvine said that “the experiences of knowing a school that is grounded in its community” made Taree an attractive option for him.
Mr Irvine said his role would see him “capitilising on the good work already done” as well as maximising student outcomes.
