The four finalists were two sides from Taree along with Great Lakes College Forster and Wingham high schools played the exciting format of sets-play with ‘shoot-out’ ends. Forster won by millimetres in a ‘shoot-out’ over Wingham. Excitement, nervous energy and determination was the order of the day across the rinks as the play-off for third and fourth between Taree No 1 and Taree No 2 also was decided with a shoot-out end. Twenty high school teams across the Hunter Education Region involving government, non government and Catholic students from years seven to 11 took part in this the second year of the competition.
The winning school teams from the four districts, Manning, Hunter, Newcastle and the Lakes (east and west of Lake Macquarie) now play for the regional championship and a chance to win the $1000 cash prize for their school on Monday August 29 at Kahibah Sports Club in Newcastle.
