Engineering and infrastructure will be led by Ron Hartley, the former director of engineering services at Great Lakes Council. Lisa Schiff will lead the planning and natural systems division, a role she held for the past five years at Great Lakes Council and Steve Embry will lead corporate and business systems - it follows 12 years at Great Lakes Council in the role of director of corporate and community services.
Paul De Szell will head community spaces and services and according to MidCoast Council, “is looking forward to the development of this new division which is different in structure to any of the previous council structures”.
Mr De Szell previously held the role of executive leader of service delivery with Greater Taree City Council and has 19 years experience in NSW local government.
I congratulate Lisa Schiff, Ron Hartley, Steve Embry and Paul De Szell on their appointments and am very confident they will work together with Glenn Handford to make MidCoast Council a great success.
- MidCoast Council Administrator John Turner
Following the forced amalgamation of Greater Taree City Council, Great Lakes Council and Gloucester Shire Council in May two committees were established; the Local Representative Committee and the Implementation Advisory Group.
According to MidCoast Council “it was determined the council would be best served if the committees came together and formed the MidCoast Local Representative Committee”.
“As determined by the Local Government remuneration tribunal committee member and chair payments would be in line with councillor fees for a regional rural council. Members will receive $18,840 and the chair will receive $39,979 for 2016-17 year.”
