This week the 15-year-old Taree High School student took a major plunge by getting more than 30cm cut from her hair.
Erin’s big decision was made easier by the important cause she’s supporting Wigs for Kids with cancer.
Erin lost a friend to cancer at young age. Her personal experience with the disease brought her to the conclusion, “they need my hair more than I do”.
In charge of performing the big chop was Taree Aristocut Hair Studio’s Trevor Cornall.
Trevor is the only person who has ever cut Erin’s hair.
He said Erin’s decision, “shows the amazing girl she really is.”
“Not many teenagers care about others so much,” he said.
Erin’s mother Sharon said her daughter has always been kind-hearted and has volunteered for Riding for the Disabled for around two years.
“I’m very proud of her,” Sharon said.
Erin’s hair was chopped off into three, clean plaits - the requirements for the wig charity.
Erin admitted to being nervous and not sleeping the night before, but liked what she saw in the mirror following the cut.
“I think a few people will be shocked,” she added.
