The barn’s walls are now up, meaning one day it will house larger dairy exhibition items.
The society received a $10000 grant from the Stronger Community Program to fund the work of building contractor Nigel Young to complete the lining of the barn.
Cundletown and Lower Manning Historical Society president Margaret Love said the process has taken a long time, with the concrete slab being poured in 2014 and the steel framework being erected in 2015 by Sowter Engineering.
Margaret said, “there is still a lot of work to be done” including electricity installation which will need further funding.
A pathway will also need to be laid to connect the original building to the new structure.
Another new addition the the museum will be the construction of the new disabled amenities block. This project received a $15000 grant from The Community Building Partnership.
“The society wishes to thank all the members of the community who have donated so generously to this project by either attending functions organised by the group, purchased a sausage from the barbecue at Masters, bought a raffle ticket or by donating directly,” said Margaret.
“Without the support of the community and their generosity the dream would not have been realised.”
