For They Are Jolly Good Fellows!
ON Friday July 22 we’re reopening what will then be a beautifully air conditioned theatre with a concert by the brightest young stars of the Australian Orchestral firmament: The Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship Ensemble. The SSO Fellows have become annual visitors over the past few years, and it is always a little thrilling to meet the new ensemble members each year and hear what delicious new musical offering they bring. Inevitably, each and every one of them is mind bogglingly talented. In the words of the SSO Fellowship Ensemble’s artistic director, Roger Benedict: "A typical Sydney Symphony Orchestra fellowship applicant will already be playing their instrument at a very high level. They will already have experience performing chamber and orchestral repertoire to an equally high level. But they will be hungry for the experiences that take them to the next stage, that really prepare them for a career in music, and there is no substitute for the on-the-job training that a leading orchestra like the Sydney Symphony Orchestra can offer. The Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship Program aims to produce adventurous, inspiring and highly adaptable musicians who can imagine something beyond themselves and help create a strong and vibrant future for music.”
Lucky local music students have the chance to interact with and learn from the Fellows on Saturday, July 23 when master-classes will be held here at the Manning Entertainment Centre.
There are still places available for these fantastic classes, so call us on 6592 5466 to secure a spot.
Wayne Legs His Way to the MEC
When Wayne Rogers burst onto our TV screens as a contestant on “Australia’s Got Talent”, he was hard to ignore. Bedecked in flamboyant feathers, frills and sequins, and belting out classic songs from the Shirley Bassey/Dusty Springfield era Wayne left an unforgettable impression on Australian TV viewers. Now he steps from the small screen onto the big stage as he brings his fabulous show “Lashes, Legs and Lyrics” to the Manning Entertainment Centre on Sunday, July 31 at 2pm.
