It’ll be the first time that Catherine, whose stage name is Miss Kitty, will compete in a tattoo specific competition.
Held at Newcastle’s Cambridge Hotel, contestants will compete across three categories: casual wear, swimwear and formal wear onstage as well as a brief interview.
Although an internationally published freelance model, Catherine admitted she was more at home in vintage dresses than modern swimwear.
The competition was a big step outside of her comfort zone she said, but one she’s excited about making.
If Kitty makes it through to the final it will be held in Canberra on October 22.
The Times talked to Catherine ahead of her appearance at last year’s Port Rockers RetroFest, the first time she had competed on stage.
She told the Times that pinup modelling represented a life long passion of hers, as well as helping her with her own confidence.
"I grew up in a family that loved old music and hot rods so falling in love with all things pinup was probably inevitable," she said.
"After having my children my body shape had changed.”
"I loved how feminine the retro clothing made me feel. Even on a bad day, just throwing on some red lipstick and a dress or skirt made everything seem a bit easier."
Catherine told the Times that her only aim with modelling was to set a good example for her children.
"My only ambition for my modelling is to have fun and promote a healthy body image to my daughters," she said.
Miss Ink Australia has been hosting tattoo pageants around the country for more than five years.
Competitors are judged by a panel of professional individuals from within the Australian tattoo, fashion, and modelling industries.
The winner and runner up from each local pageant score themselves a sash, tiara, cash prize, and go through to compete at the national final in Melbourne at the end of each year where they compete for a larger prize pool and the title of Miss Ink Australia.
