Connected Communities senior leader in community engagement Jay Davis said the night will showcase local aboriginal culture from inside the school and the community.
The school held a NAIDOC event internally on June 28, but this year they chose to add on a night event too.
The theme of the event and NAIDOC is ‘Songlines – the living narrative of our nation’. There will be traditional dancers, poetry readings, story telling, a live band, comedy and a yadagi (traditional name for digeridoo) ensemble.
Taree Primary School year three and four students will perform the native bees song by Jay Davis.
MC for the night will be comedian Andrew Saunders.
There will also be a performance from comedian Gregg Andrews.
Chief executive officer for the Aboriginal Land Council Jodie Lawler will deliver a poetry reading.
The cost is a gold coin donation, which includes a light supper of kangaroo stew and lemon myrtle tea.
