She decided to donate her hair to the Taree Quota Club, which has sent it on to the Alopecia Foundation to be made into a beautiful wig for someone suffering alopecia.
“It is a very generous and rewarding thing to do,” said Quotarian Jan Wood.
“So often people grow their hair only to have it cut off and swept into a bin at a hairdressers, or put into a cupboard as a memory.
“Hair is a valuable thing and even more so when you are a person who doesn’t have any due to alopecia.”
If you would like to donate your hair it must be at least 30cm long and not be permed or coloured.
“Cut the ponytail off above the elastic band and then place more elastic bands along the length of the hair at intervals,” said Jan.
“This is to make sure that all the hair is kept flowing in the same direction from root to tip.
“This is very important. Hair that has been cut in a ponytail and then plaited is also okay. Your hairdresser will be able to help you.”
To donate hair to the foundation you can contact Chris at Taree Quota Club on 6553 1549 or 0428 531 800 to arrange pick-up.
Your kind donation will enable Quota to continue their charitable work.
