Manuel, a founding member of the club in 1960, was actively involved even before this time when the club operated from the Old Bar airstrip under the auspices of the Royal Newcastle Aero Club.
Manuel has held, at some time, all positions in the Manning River Aero Club including president and patron and was still winning flying competitions five years ago.
Manuel puts his good health and longevity down to good Greek food and wonderful friends.
The Manning River Aero Club formed in 1960, having transferred its training base from the Old Bar Airstrip to the then new Taree Airport. Initially, training was conducted in the DH-82 Tiger Moth before the Cessna 150.
