DESPITE the severe weather warnings the Manning Valley was not impacted as expected. SES community engagement co-ordinator Steve Lawrence said the SES received 100 calls for assistance in the area, most being for storm damage such as leaking and/or damaged roofs.

“We got off relatively lightly compared to other areas,” Mr Lawrence said, adding that the region did not receive the amount of rainfall that was expected.
The Manning River was put on flood watch for minor to moderate flooding, but apart from low lying rural roads no inundation was recorded. The SES said they would like to acknowledge that people in the region did the right thing and did not risk driving through roads covered in water. They also want to acknowledge their many volunteers that took time of work to volunteer their services.
The SES are still receiving a few calls due to high winds.
Some coastal erosion occurred at Old Bar, with MidCoast Council activiating the Greater Taree Coast Emergency Action Plan for Old Bar and Manning Point.
