Her parents, Port Macquarie’s Steve and Sally Tonkin, are relieved their family is safe after the gum tree fell on their Shelly Beach home about 10.30pm on Saturday.
Baby Emilia, 12-weeks-old, and her two-year-old brother Jack were oblivious to the situation.
“It sort of roared towards the house and then there was the bang of it hitting the roof,” Mrs Tonkin said about the falling tree.
“My first concern was her.
“Your heart leaps in your chest when you think something could happen to your baby.”
No one was hurt.
The tree broke roof tiles, guttering and caused minor structural damage to the corner of the roof.
A second tree fell across the pool pump shed.
Mr Tonkin said they were not surprised because they lived near a reserve.
“You always assess the risk it could potentially happen,” he said.
“It is just dealing with it when it does.”
The home is insured.
