Among the Sydneysiders are four-year-old mare Lady Corleone from the Marc Connors stable at Warwick Farm and eight-year-old gelding Lay Down The Law, trained at Rosehill by Pam Webber.
Some in-form gallopers make up nominations from Wyong, Broadmeadow, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey and Coffs Harbour in what is shaping as a very competitive race.
Wyong is represented by Bully Bully, trained by Kim Waugh, Get On The Grange (Allan Kehoe), Lopresti (Kristen Buchanan) and Spinning Gold (Damien Lane).
Get On The Grange is returning to Bushland Drive Racecourse where two of his seven wins have been achieved,at a distance where in seven starts, the gelding has achieved three wins and two placings.
The galloper was third over 2200m in January whereas last start on May 19 he was beaten 5.9 lengths by Rye over 1400m at Hawkesbury, the extra distance more suitable.
The Paul Perry stable from Broadmeadow has had exceptional luck with multiple wins at this track and they have nominated five-year-old gelding Quartermaster.
It has had three wins at the distance, two starts back was third behind Taree gelding Highway To Heaven, trained by Bob Haire and last start was only beaten 2.5 lengths by Loud Debate over 1600m at Gosford on May 17.
Highway To Heaven was accepted for a race at Newcastle during the week but was scratched, possibly to be reserved for its home track.
The form of Coffs Harbour seven-year-old mare Shadow Rein is good with seconds at its last two starts, the last one being behind Adventure King over 1900m at Kempsey on May 21.
Port’s Star Of Legs, trained by Tas Morton, has been second at its past two starts at Grafton, it only being beaten just under a half length by Bingo Bobby over 1620m last run and has won here at the distance.
And five-year-old mare Who Is Game, trained on the track by Michael Byers, has been in great form with a win and placings of late and was most unlucky last start in a 1412m race which involved six apprentices being injured in a pile-up at Taree’s last meeting.
I will preview the meeting in Friday’s edition.
