It was an exciting day for Taree and District RSPCA, who fundraised to fence the area. "The idea for leash-free area for Taree was born 10 years ago," said Taree and District RSPCA president Sandy Brooks.
"Since then money has been raised, plans submitted, partnerships formed, and here we are finally. Today Saxby Park is now an area that dog owners can use to exercise their pets without the fear of them being in danger on the road." Sandy thanked the RSPCA volunteers and gave special mention to Kelly and Dave Fernance who, "went above and beyond to make the fence a reality".
Managing director of Saxby’s Soft Drinks and fifth generation Saxby, Ian Turner officially opened the park.
