Every year the eisteddfod unearths some extraordinary new talent, and reveals the blossoming brilliance of some entrants who have really come into their own this year after competing in the past.
This weekend it culminates in one of the most exciting displays of young talent we’ve seen all year, in the Taree and District Eisteddod grand concert.
This concert features the winners of each section, along with competitors of note, whose performances made a special impression on the audience and judges.
The Taree Eisteddfod is the biggest in regional NSW and attracts entrants from all around the state, resulting in an exceptionally high standard of competition.
The winners come from all corners of the state, and this year we saw some really remarkable acts.
The grand concert brings all these wonderful young stars together to present a wonderfully entertaining evening of dance, song, music and theatre.
It’s also the night when scholarships are awarded to very deserving artists who will benefit enormously from the patronage of local businesses and philanthropists.
The scholarships take the form of paid tuition, master-classes and secondments, and can truly change a young performer’s life.
It’s an appropriate time to pay tribute to the army of volunteers who have assisted in the running of this huge event.
Everyone from the ticket sellers through the backstage talent wranglers, to the act announcers and the office assistants have contributed to yet another very successful Taree and District Eisteddfod.
Thank you one and all. Your service is what makes it all happen on the day.
Show your support for the amazing young performers, and most importantly, have a great night out at the Taree and District Eisteddod grand concert this Saturday June 4 at 7pm.
Slideshows on the Times website
MANNING River Times photographers Carl Muxlow and Scott Calvin have been busy over the past fortnight photographing the eisteddfod’s dance section.
Two slideshows featuring individual dancers are now up on the Times website to view.
Following the group weekend over the past weekend, they are busy compiling a slideshow that will be up on the website in coming days.
