Ex-mayor Paul Hogan along with councillors Brad Christensen, Alan Tickle, Trent Jamieson and Robyn Jenkins were among the volunteers for the big day that attracted a near record field of 165 runners.
All had agreed to volunteer for the first anniversary before they lost their jobs as part of the amalgamation with Greater Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester councils to form MidCoast Council.
Ex-mayor Hogan was the official starter for the run.
As has been the case for just about every run conducted in the past 12 months, the weather was perfect for the 5km event.
"It was awesome,'' Marg Lewis, the Taree parkrun co-founder said of the anniversary celebrations.
"It was just so great to see the community spirit. Someone said to me that it was just like going to a family birthday party.''
Blue was the theme for the day. Before runners headed off presentations were made to the top three male and female pointscorers in the last 12 months. Mark Hosgood topped the men followed by Daniel Clinch and Mark Primmer third. Angela Nicholson was the leading woman from Brooke Hosgood and Paula Hagan.
The top volunteers were Pattie Hogan (17), Brendan Thode (17), Sandra van Dyke (10) and Tara Copp (nine). George Hall and Paula Hagan had the most personal best times with 16 while Maree Cheney recorded 15.
Paula clocked the most consecutive PBs with nine followed by Peter Cheney on eight and Daniel Clinch with seven.
Member for Lyne David Gillespie also joined the run for the first time.
Earlier he announced the parkrun had been successful in a $5000 grant that Marg explained will go towards financing a new PA along with upgrading equipment.
The parkrun will be on again next Saturday from 8am at Endeavour Place.
