The Wildcats have enjoyed 3-0 shutouts in their last two games, following a first round 7-1 belting at the hands of the Tuncurry-Forster Tigers.
Wildcats coach Rod Bartley said the recent wins were a sign of the work the team was putting in during training.
"The boys have worked hard, but we've drawn a line in the sand each week and started again," Bartley explained.
Port FC have won one game and lost two this season, but with former A-League player Troy Hearfield in their ranks, Bartley won't be taking them lightly.
"They've got a lot of young players like us, they're improving all the time."
"We're expecting a battle."
He said the Wildcats would focus on finishing their attacking raids this week, with several chances to score going unconverted in their past few games.
"We've been creating a lot of opportunities which is pleasing, but again, it's all about putting the ball in the back of the net."
Bartley will have the same front three, but the unavailability of Troy Moderno this weekend will result in a midfield shuffle, with the coach to finalise his side after Thursday night's training.
Bartley said that two or three players were carrying niggling injuries, but he wasn't too concerned, given the form of many reserve grade players.
"There's plenty of of boys putting their hands up in reserve grade," he said.
