The previous week the Wildcats thrashed premiers Port Saints by the three goal margin.
On this occasion Taree led 1-0 at halftime after a goal to captain Jordan Howard. The Wildcats increased this to 2-0 following a great individual effort from Ricky Campbell and sealed the result when youngster Luke Mepham found the back of the net.
Coach Rod Bartley said the Wildcats showed great composure in the first half, with goal keeper Piet Gross producing two superb saves after Howard gave the side the early advantage.
He described the second half performance as 'outstanding,' saying the Wildcats were completely dominant and probably should have put away some more goals.
The Wildcats now have two wins from the opening three games after losing heavily to Tuncurry-Forster in the opening week.
"We dominated the midfield against Macleay and everyone did their job,'' Bartley said.
"But we aren't getting too carried away. We play Port FC at Port Macquarie next week, so we'll start to prepare for that game.''
Howard was named the players' player while Gross was also strong for the Wildcats. Campbell had his best game in his comeback season to the game after playing rugby last year.
It was a good day for the Wildcats, with the club also winning the reserve grade 4-2. Josh Ferris and Josh Douglas were outstanding for the Wildcats, with Douglas scoring two late goals to seal the match.
"That's the first time the club's won both grades on the one day since 2012,'' Bartley said.
