"We'll wait until we appoint a new general manager then we'll have a conversation,'' FMNC chairman Mike Parsons said.
He said the criteria for entry into the Football Mid North Coast Premier League will be on the workshop agenda.
"It's been several years since we've discussed this,'' he said.
"So I think it's about time we looked at the criteria again.''
This is in the wake of Old Bar's withdrawal from the league last month. Nine clubs will now contest the competition after the board was unable to find a replacement for the Barbarians.
Old Bar has a long history in the premier league but will now join the one-grade southern all age competition.
Mr Parsons had previously confirmed that under the present rules the Barbarians would first need to comply with strict criteria to even apply for a place in the premier league. Old Bar would then have to win a promotion/relegation game to return to the competition.
Mr Parsons is not suggesting there be any change to the criteria clubs must adhere to before seeking a spot in the premier league.
"We wouldn't interfere with the integrity of our premier league,'' he assured.
"But there are some things we need to have a discussion about. It's similar to the discussion we've had in the past about the promotion/relegation game.
"I've changed my mind on when that match will be played if needed this year. We haven't come up with a date but it will be on a day that is fair to both sides involved.''
The match had previously been played on premier league grand final day. However, the game wasn't required last year as no club had applied for a spot in the league by the June 30 deadline.
FMNC's board will start interviews for the general manager's position this week and a decision is expected soon. Mr Parsons previously revealed that there have been 18 applications received.
The premier league will kick off on Saturday April 16. As previously reported, Taree will be the only club from the Manning Valley involved in the competition that takes in clubs from Forster-Tuncurry to Kempsey. Taree will meet Tuncurry-Forster Tigers in the opening match at South Street Tuncurry.
The Wildcats will play premiers Port Saints in their first home game for the season on Saturday April 23.
