Among the portraits to adorn the walls will be the winning work by Newcastle artist Nigel Milsom's portrait of barrister Charles Waterstreet.
"My portrait is an attempt to depict him as a giant: part-man, part-mythical creature with hands that appear otherworldly, as though the anatomy of his hands has been designed to grasp unnatural disasters, naturally," explains Nigel.
The Archibald Prize is an Art Gallery of New South Wales touring exhibition and Australia's leading portraiture competition.
High profile, eagerly anticipated and often controversial, the Archibald Prize for portraiture dates back 94 years and was established in 1921 by JF Archibald.
Awarded to the best painting of a notable Australian, the Archibald Prize is a who's who of Australian culture, from politicians and celebrities to musicians and artists.
This year, just a few of the famous faces you can expect to see include Daniel Johns, Paul Kelly and Jenny Kee.
Each year, the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW judge the prize and the winning artist is awarded $100,000. With this, the finalists are exhibited at the Art Gallery of NSW before embarking on a year-long regional tour.
Manning Regional Art Gallery director, Noella Lopez is thrilled to bring the Archibald Prize 2015 to the Manning.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for locals and visitors to the region to experience and enjoy what the Archibald Prize 2015 has to offer, right here in our community," said Noella.
