Skippered by Forster's Ross Kneebone with John Hiley the crew member, Lazy Bones finished the 34km course in a time of 2:03:30.

They were closely followed by the defending champion, Crazy Bones, which was skippered by Craig Kneebone. There was just 44 seconds separating the two catamarans. It took over 18 minutes for the next boat, Brett Van Munster's Wife Pleaser, to reach the finish line.

There was a narrow margin between the top three for the handicap victory. The winner was the VS Black Diamond, skippered by Robert Baker, which was in the mono hull class. It was followed by Chill'n, skippered by Greg Roche, and That's Gold, skippered by Richard Dodds. Both these boats were in the NS14 and MG14 category.

The junior fleet had a shorter course, instead starting from Croki and travelling to Taree Aquatic Club. Laser, skippered by Lily Smith, took the line honours for the junior classes in a time of 2:17:57. Following in second place was Will Gibson, skipper of Banshi, in 2:21:39.

Rory Knezevic took out the handicap honours among the juniors aboard his boat TAC-7. He was followed by Kalan Steber on No Name.

Thirty six boats competed across six different classes at this year's event.

"The numbers were well down on previous years, mainly due to the poor weather in the area in recent times. Despite the drop in overall numbers there was a strong fleet of juniors, with eight junior boats in the BIC class and five in the laser class." Taree Aquatic Club sailing committee secretary Michael Diessel said.

The sailors experienced good conditions for the majority of the race thanks to a south-easterly breeze. However, the winds were significantly weaker than those in previous years.

"We are very much looking forward to next year. Hopefully the weather is much more kind to us and we can have some quicker times," Diessel said.
